Charity & nonprofit site card sort template

Nonprofit sites often serve donors, volunteers, beneficiaries, and press on the same homepage. Card sorting helps you see which audiences your current structure prioritises without asking leading questions in a survey.

Run this with a mix of supporter types if you can. Donors may cluster around impact and transparency; volunteers around events and signup. If those clusters diverge sharply, consider audience-specific entry paths rather than one mega-menu.

Keep group names verbatim in your analysis. Participant language ('Where my money goes') beats internal jargon ('Annual outcomes report') for nav labels.
